The retreat guide 2026–2027 edition

Yoga retreats in the UK.
A little room to breathe.

Eleven places to explore for 2026 and 2027, from the Welsh hills and Scottish lochs to Somerset woodland and the South Devon coast.

About this guide: We reviewed current provider information for this October 2026 update. This is an editorial comparison, rather than a ranking based on first-hand visits. Review My Retreat offers paid marketing services to retreat providers. Check current details and book directly with the organiser.

A UK yoga retreat can be a short break with a few relaxed classes, a week of daily practice or an immersion in a traditional spiritual community. Those experiences can feel very different, even when the photographs look equally peaceful.

Choose your kind of day

Start with the teaching and the daily timetable. For substantial yoga practice, compare Ananda and Mandala. For a quiet blend of yoga and meditation, explore Sharpham, Gayles or Dhanakosa. For a more active coastal break, look at Yoga Field & Sea or The Salt Sisterhood.

We have retained the useful range of the earlier guide and checked current provider pages for this update. The shortlist spans England, Wales and Scotland, with a mix of dedicated yoga retreats and wider wellbeing programmes that include yoga. Numbering helps you navigate; it is not a ranking or a promise of results.

The Sharpham Trust

Totnes, Devon

Sharpham brings yoga into a wider programme of mindfulness and nature connection above the River Dart. Its movement calendar includes a four-night Yoga and Nature Connection retreat at The Coach House, with single rooms and short periods of silence indicated in the programme listing.

This is a useful starting point if you want movement alongside meditation and time outdoors. The focus differs from a studio-style holiday with several energetic classes every day.

Before booking: Select the yoga programme specifically: Sharpham also runs retreats centred on meditation, singing, Qigong and other themes.

More time on the mat

Ananda Yoga Retreats

Lake District, Cumbria

Ananda’s UK retreats bring yoga practice into the Lake District landscape, with programmes in the Coniston and Grasmere area. The current calendar includes Vinyasa-led weekends as well as yoga, meditation and sound-focused departures.

It is a useful comparison if you want a hosted yoga break with a clear teaching emphasis. Read the specific event description rather than assuming every weekend has the same teacher, style or schedule.

Before booking: Check the exact Lake District venue, room sharing, meal inclusions and any walking or outdoor activity requirements.

Beyond the postures
Mandala Yoga Ashram and its Welsh countryside setting

Mandala Yoga Ashram

Carmarthenshire, Wales

Mandala offers a residential setting for studying yoga as a broader spiritual practice. Its teaching spans postures, breath practices, meditation, Yoga Nidra, chanting and philosophy, with courses that vary in length and emphasis.

A stay here is closer to participating in an ashram community than visiting a spa hotel. The ashram also describes short-term community stays involving the daily rhythm, meditation and practical service.

Before booking: Check whether you are booking a taught retreat or a community stay, and ask about shared routines, accommodation and expectations around service.

A contemporary weekend

Our Retreat

Somerset, England

Our Retreat’s Somerset weekends combine yoga with other practices such as Pilates, meditation and breathwork at 42 Acres. The teaching mix changes by departure: some dates feature Yin and restorative yoga, while others include sound sessions.

The published Somerset page lists 2027 weekends and a starting price of £595 per person. Treat that as an advertised entry point, checked in October 2026, rather than the price of every room or date.

Before booking: Check the named teachers, room category and exact inclusions. Our Retreat is an organiser; 42 Acres also hosts other programmes.

Time by the water

Yoga Field & Sea

South Devon

Yoga Field & Sea places the South Devon coast at the centre of its programmes. Daily yoga sits alongside coastal walking and sea swimming, with the Torcross area providing access to the South West Coast Path.

The current calendar includes longer walking adventures as well as yoga-focused breaks. Choose by the actual itinerary: a week built around substantial coastal mileage is a different proposition from a gentle weekend with optional walks.

Before booking: Ask about daily walking distances, terrain, swimming ability and weather alternatives, and confirm which activities are optional.

A quieter break
Residential retreat accommodation and surroundings at Gayles
Photo: Gayles Retreat.

Gayles Retreat

East Sussex, England

Gayles combines silence, walking, yoga and meditation in the South Downs near the Seven Sisters landscape. Its current calendar includes one-day retreats and residential weekends through 2027.

The approach is grounded in quiet practice and simple hospitality, with vegetarian food and countryside walks. It may suit readers who want less conversation and a clear boundary from everyday distractions.

Before booking: Read the silence policy and accommodation options, and ask how postures and walks can be adapted to your experience and mobility.

Among the trees
Yoga practice at Forest Retreats, Hill Farm in Tintern

Forest Retreats

Tintern, Wye Valley, Wales

Based at Hill Farm above Tintern, Forest Retreats combines yoga with woodland experiences and an eco-spa setting. Its current programme includes day retreats, seasonal gatherings and other hosted events, so a residential stay is not the only way to try it.

This can be a useful option if you want nature and movement within a relatively short visit. Compare the event details for food, spa time and the amount of yoga included.

Before booking: Confirm whether your chosen event includes accommodation, which spa facilities are included and what clothing or footwear is needed outdoors.

Women, yoga & the sea

The Salt Sisterhood

Cornwall, England

The Salt Sisterhood combines yoga and wild swimming on women-focused coastal retreats. Its Cornwall programme makes time in and around the sea a central part of the experience, rather than an occasional extra.

The provider has announced 2027 retreats and describes an autumn release of bookings. Use the current calendar for the chosen departure and avoid carrying forward the previous season’s room prices.

Before booking: Discuss swimming confidence, cold-water expectations, room sharing and weather alternatives before booking; the provider also runs trips outside the UK.

A broader wellbeing programme
Yeotown guests hiking on the North Devon coast
Photo: Yeotown.

Yeotown Devon

North Devon, England

Yeotown’s current five-day Devon programme is called Realignment. Yoga is one part of a fuller schedule that also includes guided outdoor activity, movement, meals and bodywork, rather than the sole focus of the stay.

The official page advertises fully inclusive rates from £2,900, checked in October 2026. Compare the room, dates and inclusions directly; this is a premium programme with a different pace and budget from a simple yoga weekend.

Before booking: Ask about the expected activity level and any adjustments you need. A wellbeing programme is not medical treatment or a guaranteed solution to burnout.

New · Lochside practice

Dhanakosa

Balquhidder, Scotland

Dhanakosa offers yoga, embodied movement and meditation in Balquhidder Glen. Its 2027 programme includes introductory retreats that assume no previous yoga or meditation experience, alongside a separate Going Deeper category.

The setting and Buddhist context make this a useful Scottish addition to the shortlist. Expect meditation teaching, periods of silence and an introduction to Buddhist practice, rather than a resort-style activity menu.

Before booking: Choose the right experience category and check the room arrangements. The displayed booking fee is not necessarily the complete contribution for your stay.

Choose by the host
Retreat house and grounds at 42 Acres in Somerset
Photo: 42 Acres.

42 Acres

Near Frome, Somerset

42 Acres is an estate and retreat venue with a changing programme, rather than one fixed yoga holiday. Its setting includes woodland, meadows and a lake, with both stays and organised experiences advertised.

Yoga may be part of a hosted retreat, including weekends run by Our Retreat, but the teacher, daily timetable and inclusions depend on the event. A room booking on its own should not be treated as a yoga retreat package.

Before booking: Check who is hosting, how much yoga is included, and whether meals, sauna or other activities require separate booking.

Choose by the day you want.

For a first retreat, look for clearly described classes, optional activities and time between sessions. An ashram or Buddhist retreat may include chanting, meditation, silence and community tasks; a coastal holiday may be more sociable and physically active.

For more yoga practice, ask about the hours of teaching, class size and style. For more rest, look for a timetable with genuine free time. Photographs of a hot tub or a beautiful room do not tell you how your day will feel.

Compare the full cost.

Prices depend on duration, room type, season and how much is included. Two checked examples show the range: Our Retreat’s Somerset page advertises weekends from £595 per person, while Yeotown’s five-day Realignment programme starts from £2,900. These are provider-advertised starting prices reviewed in October 2026, not a quote for your dates.

Ask for accommodation, meals, teaching, excursions, equipment and any treatments to be itemised. Check single-room supplements, travel, station transfers, deposits and cancellation terms separately. A booking fee or deposit should not be mistaken for the total cost.

Before you book.

  • Read a sample day and confirm the yoga styles and teaching hours.
  • Ask whether sessions suit your experience, access needs and any limitations.
  • Check the actual venue, room sharing and bathroom arrangements.
  • Confirm dietary requirements, travel connections and arrival times.
  • For swimming or hiking, ask about ability requirements and weather alternatives.
  • Read the deposit, cancellation and refund policy before paying.

Pack for practice and the weather.

Bring comfortable layers, waterproof outerwear, suitable walking shoes, a refillable bottle and any personal essentials. Ask whether mats, bolsters and towels are supplied. Swimwear may be useful for a coastal or spa programme, but check exactly what is planned. Shared accommodation may make earplugs and an eye mask helpful.

Every season can work for a UK retreat. A reliable indoor practice space and a flexible wet-weather plan matter more than a promise of sunshine.

Useful questions

Before you choose.

Can a beginner go on a yoga retreat?

Yes, if the specific programme welcomes beginners and the teacher can offer suitable adaptations. Check this directly; a provider may run both introductory and advanced retreats.

Can I travel alone?

Many retreats welcome solo guests. Ask about shared meals, group size and whether a single room is available. A private room can cost more, while some programmes offer shared rooms only.

Are all of these dedicated yoga retreats?

No. Ananda and Mandala place yoga practice prominently, while some options combine it with meditation, walking, swimming or a wider wellbeing programme. At 42 Acres, the amount of yoga depends on the host and event.

Can a retreat treat a health condition?

A holiday or wellbeing retreat should not be treated as a substitute for clinical care. Discuss individual health questions with a qualified healthcare professional, and ask the organiser about practical adaptations before committing.

How far ahead should I book?

Book once the programme, room and cancellation terms suit you. Popular dates can fill, but this guide does not track live availability. Confirm with the organiser before buying non-refundable travel.

Sources and review notes.

The linked provider pages are the primary sources for this update. We have checked the advertised format and practical distinctions; we have not independently assessed every venue or teacher.

This edition refreshes the photographs and programme descriptions, adds Dhanakosa in Scotland, and updates Yeotown’s programme name and advertised starting price. We have separated venue-only stays from hosted yoga programmes and removed old event prices that were not a reliable guide to a future booking.
