We draw upon the wealth of indigenous knowledge and healing wisdom of the Shipibo tribespeople to offer you a truly unique, authentic and life-changing healing experience at our Ayahuasca retreats in Peru. We are committed to preserving the integrity of the ancient shamanic traditions and the sacred land we conduct our ceremonies on.

During our Ayahuasca retreat in Peru, we work with highly respected Shamans who have been apprenticed from a young age in healing through sacred medicinal plants and remedies such as Ayahuasca and various Master or Teacher Plants.

In addition to our traditional healers, each of our facilitators has experienced powerful growth and transformation through sacred plant medicines. Our team is available to support you in boldly going to the edge of your courage and in integrating this work once you return to the day to day routine of life in your home country.

We believe that the healing and insight we receive through working with sacred plant medicines compels us to use this newfound wisdom and compassion for good. We walk the talk by donating a percentage of our profits to two extraordinary NGO’s who are working to heal trauma throughout Nepal, Asia and to regenerate the Peruvian Amazon by strengthening indigenous communities to combat deforestation, discrimination, and marginalization.

We are committed to doing everything possible to guarantee your safety whilst on retreat. In addition, to have a superior first aid and emergency protocol, we have partnered with the International Centre for Ethnobotanical Education, Research and Service to create a comprehensive medical screening process.

SHAMAN - SHIPIBO MAESTROS

Don Miguel was born into a Shipibo community called Roaboya on the River Ucayali. When Don Miguel was a child, Angel Sanchez Vargas, his grandfather was the community’s curandero. Vargas was an expert in sacred plant medicines and was frequently called upon to heal and share his spiritual wisdom with members of Roaboya. The school built some years later was named after Vargas and Roaboya went on to be recognised as the first indigenous community 114 years ago. Don Miguel grew up surrounded by the Shipibo wisdom and possess intimate knowledge of the sacred plant medicines. At a very young age he began his apprenticeship as a curandero through plant dietas under the supportive guidance of his grandfather. Miguel is also a trained literature professor and thoroughly enjoys teaching the Shipibo language and culture. Since 2012, Don Miguel has spent the bulk of his time at the Ayahuasca Foundation where he supports his brother, Don Enrique in leading lectures, workshops, initiation courses and retreats. Don Miguel will lead our Ayahuasca ceremonies, circle discussions and be available for personal consultations whilst on retreat.

Maestra Juana was born into the Shipibo community of Pahoyan, one of the most powerful Shipibo healing lineages in the Peruvian Amazon. She is around 60 years old, however her exact age is unknown.She has been studying for more than 35 years under Maestra Manuela, Papa Gilberto and Papa Bejamin, who are all members of the highly-respected curandero family, the Mahua family. Juana began her dieta on the mythical Amazonian tree Noya Rao when she was just 20 years old and has dedicated her life to the path of healing ever since. Juana is also very learned in the workings of the human body, possessing an excellent knowledge of the bones and skeletal system. Juana specialises in bone massage and will be available on the Noya Rao retreat to provide our guests with this unique healing experience. We are delighted to have Juana’s expertise, depth of wisdom and fun loving spirit with us on the Noya Rao retreat.

The Center houses an ample ceremonial space called a Maloca (communal house); it is here that we will where we will participate in our Ayahuasca rituals on several of our evenings. The Center also hosts a central kitchen and dining area and areas overlooking the garden, which is excellent for enjoying great conversation with others and admiring the ever-changing jungle. The Center doesn’t have reliable access to the Internet.

However, we recommend that you take care of all matters that require your urgent attention before joining us on retreat, either while in Iquitos or in your home country. This will enable you to be fully present and to receive the actual healing benefits from not only the sacred plant medicines but from the superior beauty of the surrounding forest and lakeside environment. To preserve the integrity of the river water, we only permit our guests to use biodegradable and chemical-free soaps, shampoos, and toothpaste. Our favorite soaps are Dr. Bronner’s due to their ingredients and support of reforestation and fair trade.

Your Accommodation

While at the Center, you will be enjoying a private room or jungle bungalow (Tambo) with a spectacular view of the Amazon Jungle. Your Tambo is fully protected from mosquitos by a particular screen surrounding the doors and windows.

You will have your comfortable double bed to rest on each night and all privacy you need to recharge and contemplate the day’s events. The Tambo’s are rustic, yet spacious and are guaranteed to offer you an authentic Peruvian forest experience. Attached to the rooms and to at each Tambo, western toilets and showers.
