Description of the Retreat

Annual Retreats – our retreats were conceived as a haven for people looking for an escape from the continual pressure of daily life. Having spent the last 20 years immersed in the fields of law and business, we appreciate from personal experience, the need, at some point in their lives, for people to really step into a different space.

– To take a holiday where you actually do come back feeling rested, healthy, genuinely reinvigorated and ready to take on your usual responsibilities with energy and strength.

– To experience something that actually changes your world, those rare moments that can subtly redirect your life.

– To take something away with you that you can easily incorporate into your day to day – to keep the benefits of your retreat well beyond the length of your stay.

Our retreats are designed to be rigorous and profound in terms of effect – and yet to be experienced within a personal and serene environment. Held in Zimbabwe at a private residence in Harare or on the magical Zambezi river, we believe in a personal, low profile approach hosting just 8 people at a time, to ensure each guest receives proper attention and guidance.

Teacher/Teachings

Dominique Caubel is of Franco-Indian descent and was born in 1963 in the Comoro islands off the coast of Mozambique and to the west of Madagascar.

At 8 years old he began to learn a variety of martial arts attaining black belts (Chinese and French) in both Kung Fu and Tai Chi.

At 40, he began to specialise in “internal” martial arts without the focus on aggression and now dedicates his time to Tai Chi (Chinese) and Lu Jong (Tibetan) which he feels have similar visions.

Dominique is a professional Lu Jong instructor trained and certified by the renowned Tibetan master, Tulku Lobsang.

Through his physical practice, he discovered techniques for body treatment and studied Ayurvedic massage, Chinese medicine and Tibetan Osteopathy, combining his massage skills with Reiki (Master) and Karuna, to achieve an extremely powerful and unique form of healing massage. His massages are available to guests upon request subject to availability (see Treatments menu).

Dominique Is based in Nice, in the South of France and in addition to offering healing treatments and teaching Tai Chi and Lu Jong, he conducts various annual retreats around the world. For more information visit www.dominiquecaubel.com

The Lu Jong immersion at Malabar Hall was the most exquisite retreat I have been on. On this retreat we aim for you to truly experiment with your own energy and leave with an effective personal daily practice of warm-up, yoga and meditation that you can take with you and benefit from wherever you are.

13th-20th February- Healing on the Zambezi River

INTENTION
Join us on the Zambezi river for a transformational week of regeneration and reconnection with oneself, immersed in the peace and solitude of nature, benefiting from the powerful combination of therapeutic energy balancing massage, Tibetan Healing Yoga (Lu Jong), guided meditation, silence and the beauty of wildlife.

 

The deep tissue massage is a unique combination of Chinese, Tibetan, Ayurvedic and Raynor Naturopathic techniques which identify and remove energy blockages, helping restore balance to the body, mind and spirit (see Treatments for details).  Tibetan Healing Yoga will take place every day at sunrise, followed by morning meditation and meditation by candlelight after dinner in the cool of the night.

 

Each day we ask guests to observe 4 hours of silence at specific times to allow for a deeper relaxation. This private time can be used for reading (bring your own or we will have some inspirational reading materials available), sleeping, private yoga practice, lying by the pool or any creative pursuits - quiet ones! : ) Guests are welcome to bring paints/canvasses/sketching books/writing pads/photography equipment ...

Dining and excursions will be social times and on the river guests will have the opportunity to enjoy the extremely rich birdlife unique to the Zambezi valley as well as of course elephant, hippo and possibly other wildlife.

Being a completely wild environment, there are no guarantees as to what you might see and hear, although the Valley is full of almost all species of African wildlife. You are immersed in nature and it is a fully spontaneous and magical environment with no enclosures, however as a result guests are not permitted to leave the property unescorted or by foot and should be aware and observant at all times.

A completely unique experience with profound benefits to your health - physical, mental and spiritual.
