Description of the Retreat

Give yourself the gift of wellbeing in our nature and hiking yoga retreat where the Parque Natural Sierra de Grazalema rises from quiet rural byways like an apparition, the natural world takes over. Great buttresses of rock silhouetted against the clouds soar above a forested landscape tinged with green even when the rest of Andalucía turns yellow under a baking summer sun. A Unesco Biosphere reserve since 1977, according to BBC Travel, the best place to hike in Andalucia.

Two whitewashed villages serve as gateways to our yoga retreat center. Zahara de la Sierra is one of Andalucía’s most striking villages, sashaying up a craggy, castle-topped peak in the park’s northern reaches. And El Gastor, also known as the Balcony of the Andalusian White Villages, its narrow passes connecting the villages lead over high mountain passes, drawing near to some of Spain’s prettiest mountain scenery.

Enjoy beautiful accommodation surrounded by nature. Cool off after a hike in the mountains at our five outdoor pools with views of the Sierra. Fresh vegetarian meals will be cooked for you daily. You can savor local organic produce in delicious Mediterranean dishes. You will practice a variety of Yoga styles with different instructors immersed in the peace of nature.

Teacher/Teachings

Yoga and more
Several teachers will be on hand to guide you through at least 4 yoga classes daily. All classes are suitable for all levels as options will be given throughout, so if you're a complete novice or an experience yogi, there will be something for everyone. There will be dynamic and restorative sessions available and it’s up to you how much, or how little you’d like to do! Take a trip during the day to visit one of the many local sites including pretty Andalusian white-washed villages or to cities like Granada. Or you could just chill out by one of the FIVE swimming pools Lucia has to offer. Maybe you’d like to go for walks in the incredible countryside with spectacular views or try horse-riding for the first time. There’s so much to do, you won’t be at a loose end.

Sam, one of the guest teachers, had a wonderful career travelling the world as a professional dancer, and an almost daily attendance at the gym led her to make a career of it and to teach group fitness.

Once she had the basic foundations in the world of Exercise to music under her belt, the fitness bug bit hard and the next decade saw her add several more qualifications to the list including Les Mills BODYBALANCE, BODYJAM, Sh’Bam and BODYPUMP, Level 3 Personal Training, Level 3 Mat Pilates, Step, Aerobics, Dance Fitness, (Zumba), STRONG by Zumba, Weight Training, a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo (World Taekwondo Federation), Blue Belt in Hapkido, training in Wu Shu Kung Fu and of course Yoga as well as a few other certifications to the ever-growing list.

Her first encounter with yoga was via Les Mills BODYBALANCE. She loved how the yoga made her feel, physically and mentally, and how it helped her members feel better.

Inclusivity is very important to Sam. She wants everyone to feel safe and nurtured and leave feeling amazing and happy.

Facilities

Feel as if you’re living out on a Spanish ranch at this welcoming venue with beautifully appointed rooms and living spaces. Finished with traditional tiling, bare-faced stone walls and cosy fireplaces, you’ll love the respite the rooms give from the hot Spanish sun, and curling up in bed with a good book in the winter evenings. A range of options are available to suit your style and budget.
