Description of the Retreat

Sunset Mountain Ibiza Yoga Retreat is a wonderful place to enjoy the sun and nature in a stunning natural environment of mountains, blue sky and sea, to relax at the pool and deepen your yoga practice together with our teachers and other practitioners.

At Sunset Mountain Ibiza Yoga Retreat you can definitely enjoy traditional holiday activities such as relaxing under sunny skies, swimming, taking afternoon siestas or sitting at the swimming pool and watch the world go by. You can explore the surrounding foothills and the most amazing mediterranean sites. But most importantly there is always plenty of time to relax. Here the time is just a little bit slower but no less meaningful!

The purpose of our retreat is to assist you in the understanding of your true nature through the practice of yoga and deep immersion in a yogic lifestyle.

Our guests range from total beginners to the experienced practitioner, from the stiff to the super flexible. Yoga is a personal journey and you will be receiving instruction to suit your current level. Our yoga retreats are a great way to experience yoga for the first time, or for the more experienced it is an opportunity to deepen their practice.
Our guests come from many different backgrounds: lawyers, doctors, teachers, mothers, students, business people, retired, in between jobs etc. What is most important is that they are all just really lovely people!
Many of our guests travel alone and some guests come with friends or partners.

Sunset Mountain is a Hatha Yoga center. The classes are based on the Sivananda system. There are between 4 or 5 hour daily classes during the week (theory, asana, pranayama and meditation classes). Some of the classes are more physical and stenuous and some are more recuperative and relaxing.
All classes are optional. After all, this is a holiday, not a boot camp! It is fine if you decide to sleep or spend more time on the beach in the afternoon. A big part of yoga is listening to your body’s needs, and a holiday is also about rest and recharging.
Our kitchen is 100% vegetarian and we will provide you all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner)

On the second day you will receive a free 20 minute massage with one of the best therapists of the island. It is possible to book extra massage sessions if you want to. At the retreat, we provide a large range of different therapies such as deep tissue, cranial-sacral, osteopathy, relaxing, Swedish, thai massage, heiki, sound massage, acupuncture, aura readings etc…

We can also organize excursions to the hippy markets or to other sites of the island you wish to visit.
One of our big priorities is to make you feel at home here from the first moment!
Ibiza has a unique climate. 300 days a year of sunshine, and an average day temperature of 23°.

Teacher/Teachings

All the Yoga classes are held in English, and there will be always 2 teachers (one holding the class and one assisting) to ensure a correct performance and to attend to individual needs.
Our yoga program includes:
4 hours of theory during the week divided in 3 goes :
First Theory class (1 hour):
During this session you will receive important and inspiring information about the yoga philosophy giving you in a simple way a profounder understanding of the origins, types, and goals of Yoga. In this session, you will learn about Vedanta Philosophy, the three Gunas, the four paths of Yoga and the 8 steps of Raja Yoga.

Second Theory class (1 hour):
You will learn about the chakras, the etheric body and how yoga benefits not only your physical body but also your energetic body. The connections between the chakras and your glandular system and the importance of bringing your practice to a deeper pranic level..
Third Theory class (2 hours)

You will learn about Ayurveda principles based on a correct diet and healthy life style. During this class you will receive many important tips about food combinations and personal diet according to your nature and your Dosha ( personal physical and mental constitution).
Asana and pranayama sessions:
2 Morning sessions of 3 hours each, where you will learn the complete traditional Sivananda system which includes sun salutations, 2 different kinds of pranayamas ( breathing techniques), 12 basis asanas (steady poses) and final relaxation. The 3 hour session will give you important and specific information about the correct performance and alignment of the asanas.
1 Additional morning session (1 and a half hours) of Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskara) to ensure that you will learn it perfectly.
1 Additional morning session (1 and a half hours) of Pranayama where you will learn how to control the flow of prana through different kinds of breathing techniques.
2 Afternoon sessions of 3 hours each. These classes will be more dynamic and strenuous and there will be taught a large range of different asanas with many variations.
1 morning session of 3 hours of detox Yoga  (Sukushma Vyayama), which is an ancient component of yoga not known to most of the schools of yoga today in the world. This is one of the few systems of exercises in the world where each and every part of the body including each organ, each joint and each muscle is taken into consideration.
1 Afternoon session about 3 hours which will revise all you have learned during the week.

Guided Meditations
Each yoga session will finish with 30 minutes of guided meditation. Every time you will learn a different technique in order to get an idea which form of meditation might be suitable to your nature:
1 – Introduction to Vipassana
2 – Chakra Meditation
3 – Nidra Yoga
4 – Chanting
5 – Music Meditation
