Description of the Retreat

Wixarika Cultural Immersion

Welcome to an enriching and deeply transformative experience with elders from the Wixarika Nation. Join us as we learn and grow through their art, music, and sacred medicine.

Throughout our journey we will sit in sacred ceremony through prayer and song of the Creation Story for the Wixa. Here we can heal as a collective and share our voices through songs, music, and dance. Ceremonies are followed by days of rest where we will enjoy workshops around their art and music. Unique to this moment in time, it will be a journey sure to be remembered.

Teacher/Teachings

The Wixarika people, also known as the Huicholes, are an indigenous community who live in the Sierra Madre Occidental of Mexico along the states of Jalisco, Zacatecas, Durango and Nayarit.
They are one of the few indigenous people in Mexico that still preserve their pre-Columbian traditions.
Wixarika spirituality is based on their connection with the elements (earth, wind, fire, water) and the spirits of the different places of power, or sacred sites, located throughout their Mexican territory.

Our teachers will be Wixarika elders both men and women who will guide us and offer healing in their traditional way and ceremony. This is a completely authentic experience, 100% indigenous led by indigenous elders.

Facilities

Accommodation and meals will be offered included in the price of enrollment. The setting for ceremonies will take place in a protected compound in the Jungle outside of Tulum. We will have different room availabilities depending on your budget and preference.
