Description of the Retreat

AWAKEN YOUR SPIRIT WITH YOGA, ART & NATURE IN MAINE – July 10-15, 2020
YOGA, MEDITATION & HEALING
Join us on some of the most beautiful beaches in Coastal Maine for outdoor (and indoor) Kundalini & Hatha traditions. Relax and go deep into yourself with yoga and meditation and with nature and the arts. Schedule a personal Reiki healing session with Lola, or connect on a deep and personal level through the Yoga With Horses program offered by the retreat owner and cowboy, Gerry Scott.

ENJOY NATURE & THE OUTDOORS
You’ll love this retreat! We’ll be outdoors a lot! We’ll visit local beaches, hike and bike locally, head to Portland ME for a day, visit the Maine Wildlife Park, sail away on the Harbor Lights & Sights cruise for a lighthouse tour, build some sand castles at the beach and more! There is also an option for doing Yoga with horses!

LOVE THE ARTS
Kennebunk ME has many lovely art galleries to visit; Yoga Lola has chosen three to visit on our “Art Day Out”! We’ll visit the Ogunquit Museum, the Maine Art Gallery, and the Landmark Gallery. This will also be our day for shopping or just walking around in this lovely little town!

Sweet Release
This 6-day/5-night experience touches us at every level. Inside, outside, and all around our physical, mental, spiritual and emotional being. We’ll open up more fully to life and our authentic selves through yoga, meditation, communing with nature, contact with water both on land and by sea, and explore the outdoors in general through outdoor yoga, biking and hiking. We’ll experience many different areas of Maine, including Saco, Kennebunk, Portland and more. We’ll refine our spiritual aesthetics through art and chanting, and optionally, connect with our deepest powers of healing through an optional Reiki healing session and/or the healing that comes through connection with animals in the Yoga with Horses practice. Your retreat leaders are Kevin Post and Lola Scarborough of Yoga Lola Studios in League City, Texas (www.yogalola.com). Lola & Kevin have lead many local and international retreats and look forward to co-creating with you in the beautiful setting of Coastal Maine!

Note that the dates for the activities below are not cast in stone – we might have to work around the weather so we might have to juggle a bit. We’re planning to get it all in though! If we get rained out for a hike or a local tour, Lola & Kevin will provide an in-house activity instead.
Day 1: Friday, July 10:
House opens any time after 2PM for check-in

@ 7:30PM: Orientation & happy hour (wine and non-alcoholic beverages provided by Yoga Lola tonight)
@ 9:00PM: meditation
@ 9:30-10:30PM: showers, quiet time, lights out

Day 2: Sunday , July 11:
@6:45AM: Yoga
@8:30-915AM: Breakfast
@9:30-11AM: Swim, read, relax, schedule a Reiki with Lola, or shower
@11-12:30AM: Local sightseeing / check out some local beaches and quaint small towns
@1-2:15PM: Lunch
@2:15-3:00PM: Free time, then get ready for Cascade Falls in Saco
@3:15-5:30PM: Cascade Falls Trail is a 0.5 mile loop trail that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels.
@5:30-6:30PM: Chill out time – swim, walk to the beach, read, or just relax
@6:30-7:30PM: Dinner
@7:30-9:00PM: Movie Night with popcorn
@ 9:00PM: meditation
@ 9:30-10:30pm: showers, quiet time, lights out

Day 3: Monday, July 12:
@6:45AM: Yoga
@8:30-915AM: Breakfast
@9:30-11AM: Swim, read, relax, schedule a Reiki with Lola, or shower

@ 2:30-9:00PM: Afternoon/evening out in Portland Maine (dinner is not covered in the “included” items).
*Note that @4-6 PM we’ll do our Harbor Lights & Sights Cruise – Lighthouse tour by boat in
Casco Bay (105 minutes)
*6-8PM: Dinner together at a WONDERFUL WONDERFUL pizza place in Portland right by the water.
* Maybe walk a bit and then in the van by 8:45PM.
*No meditation scheduled*

Day 5: Wednesday, July 14:

@8:30-915AM: Breakfast
@ 10AM-3PM: Maine Wildlife Park: All kinds of critters here! The park is home to over 30 species of Maine wildlife that cannot be returned to their natural habitats. Some are there because they were injured or orphaned, and others because they are human dependent – raised, sometimes illegally, in captivity. There are also beautiful gardens and hiking trails – we’ll make a day of it and bring our picnic lunch at the park! So excited. https://www.maine.gov/ifw/wildlife-park/index.html
@ 4-8PM: Yoga with Horses (For those who choose this option)
@4-6PM: Building Sandcastles on Saco Beach – pack your beach pails and shovels for this one! It’s going to be a blast. We’ll team up into a couple of teams and have a go at building the best sandcastles EVER!
@6:30-7:30PM: Dinner (we’ll keep your food warm for you if you are doing yoga with horses)
@ 8:30-10:00PM: For those with the energy for it, we’ll visit one or two of the local beer breweries in Saco! (drinks are not covered in the “included” items).

@10-10:30PM showers, quiet time, lights out

Day 6: Thursday, July 15:
@6:45AM: Yoga
@8:30-9:15AM: Breakfast
@9:15-10: Clean up and pack, getting ready to leave.

Dr. Lola Scarborough, Ph.D., E-RYT-500,
Life Coach consultant, Nutritional & Herbal consultant,
Ayurveda consultant, energy bodywork, REIKI,
teaches kundalini, flow, flexibility, YIN, HATHA YOGAs & meditation
Lola is an IKYTA and Yoga Alliance E-RYT-500 certified yoga teacher and a co-owner and Managing Director of Yoga Lola Studios. Lola is a certified life coach, a certified Wellness & Health Restoration Natural Foods Consultant, a certified tonic herbalist, a college-degreed Ayurvedic Consultant, a certified aerobics teacher, a certified Level III Reiki master, and a novice astrologer. She teaches Kundalini Yoga along with many other types of yoga. She has a long history as a writer, teacher, and project manager in the business world. She authors/has authored articles, and films videos related to yoga, health, and healing and has recently published a book on breast health.

Kevin Post, E-RYT 200, b.s. in Aeronautics and christian theology,
M.S. in Aeronautics, teaches HATHA, HAWK (HOT) YOGA & kundalini yoga,
Reiki Practitioner
Kevin is a 200-hour E-RYT certified yoga teacher. He heads up the hot yoga development, practices, and training program for the 200-Hour Yoga Mastery Course/Yoga Teacher Training Yoga course at Yoga Lola Studios and is one of co-owners of Yoga Lola Studios. Kevin has been practicing different yoga styles and meditation since 2007 and has studied various indigenous cultural traditions, scientific theories, and philosophies. He has a deep love and appreciation for Kundalini and Hatha yoga, and for the beautiful sounds of yogic mantra and music. Kevin is a Level III Reiki Practitioner.

Facilities

Lodging
Our retreat center, Coast of Maine Retreats (CMR), is a beautiful three-story restored 1856 brick ship's Captains' mansion located at 319 Main Street, Saco, ME. It's an 11-room property with it's own yoga studio, a built-in pool and a wrap around porch with lots of seating! It has a spacious kitchen where Lola will be cooking up some delicious nutritious vegetarian meals. CMR is within short walking distance of a breathtakingly beautiful beach where we will enjoy a picnic dinner our first night and later in the retreat, it's where we'll build our sand castles. It's located between coastal Portland and Kennebunkport in the middle of a dozen beaches, ports, lighthouses and coastal destinations. Gerry, the owner, is a long-time cowboy who offers a "Yoga with Horses" program which is available to you during this retreat (at an additional cost).
